Well flourines oxidation number is -1 and since theres is two fluorine you multiply -1 by two witch gives you -2 meaning oxygen's has to be positive 2 since there is only one oxygen

Oxygen almost always has an oxidation number of -2

The only exception is in H2O2 which makes it -1, and in OF2 which makes it +2
