The major land features of a swamp is a wetland that is forested and inundated with shallow freshwater. Other swamps have dry-land protrusions or hammocks covered with grass, aquatic vegetation and trees (usually mangroves), which is damp all the time because they are just along large rivers or shores of large lakes.
