I believe the correct answer is cognitive.
There are three components of attitude - affective, behavioral, and cognitive. Affective has to do with emotions; behavioral has to do with particular behaviors; and cognitive has to do with your thoughts and opinions about a particular topic. In the case above, Charlton has a particular opinion about guns, which is why this is his cognitive attitude.
