According to natural selection, the D) individuals with more common traits will not survive as well as individuals with less common traits. This can be explained using an example of the giraffes. The giraffes had a variation in the length of the necks. As the small shrubs vanished from the dessert environment, the giraffes had to eat leaves from the taller trees present there. The shorter neck giraffes found it difficult to obtain the leaves, while the longer neck giraffes benefited from the reduced competition. Thus, the longer neck trait got selected more often in the population.
