High self-esteem has been linked to success in making and meeting goals where those with low self-esteem have difficulty making and achieving goals. Overall, those with high self-esteem have reported greater fulfillment in life, while those who lack esteem often make poor decisions regarding their social relationships and other decisions involving their surrounding environment.

While this is all true, it is also true that self esteem also comes from people having the opportunity to develop themselves and being free to pursue their goals by not having terrible economic necessity like grinding poverty or else people with disabilities whether physical or mental require help in finding suitable work and everyone can do something well but those with disabilities often are left out in the cold both literally and figuratively.
