What does the black sack in this excerpt from Leo Tolstoy’s the death of Ivan llyich symbolize

Well, since there is nothing to read except the question.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by this, but i do know that (in symbols) black almost always represents death.

If you could put the excerpt so i can read it and answer it properly, that would make it easier for me.
