A box contains 5 purple marbles, 3 green marbles and 2 orange marbles. two consecutive draws are made from the box without replacement of the first draw. find the probability that both marbles are purple.

Total number of Marbles = 5 + 3 + 2 = 10
Number of purple marbles = 5

The probability of drawing out a purple marble = 5/10

Since the chosen marble is not replaced, the total number of marbles will decrease by 1. Since 1 purple marble is already drawn, the number of purple marbles will also decrease by 1. So now we have 4 purple marbles and 9 total marbles.

Now, the probability of drawing out a purple marble = 4/9

So, the probability of drawing out two purple marbles = 5/10 x 4/9 = 2/9

Thus, the probability that both marbles are purple is 2/9
