If you observe that some plants grow widely and rather evently spaced out with no other plants growing in their immediate vicinity you may hypothesize that plant is allelophatic. Also, this would result in a reduced diversity with the allelopathic plant being more abundant than other plant species which have to live in the areas that the allelopathic plant has not yet occupied.

I think since that type of species releases chemicals and discourages other living plants to live near it we can conclude that when observing the type of species we will see that they are widely spread evenly, found by itself and that species living near it are either weak or tend not to survive for long.
