in which branch of the government are the officials selected and approved by the other two branches rather than directly elected by the people?

The Government has three main branches:

1. Legislative Department

· It is responsible for making laws.

· It is composed of the Congress with the Senate and House of Representatives -- all are elected by the majority of citizens.

2. Executive Department

· It is responsible for carrying out and enforcing the law.

· It is mainly composed of the President, the Vice-President, the Cabinet. While the President and the Vice-President is directly elected by the people, the members of the Cabinet are nominated by the President and approved by the Commission on Appointments.

3. Judicial Department

· Its main responsibility is evaluating the laws.

· It includes The Supreme Court and all the other courts. The Supreme Court is composed of a Chief Justice and associate justices. They are appointed by the President and approved by the Senate.
