In referring to The Aeneid, Virgil makes an allusion.

Allusion constists on a brief and indirect reference to a person, place, thing or idea of historical, cultural, literary or political significance. In order to stot the allusion and grasp is meaning, the reader should have wide knowledge.

The Aeneid is a Latin epic poem, written by Virgil between 29 and 19 BC, that narrates the legendary story of Aeneas, a Trojan who travelled to Italy, where he became the ancestor of the Romans.
