the fact that Bob smoked for six decades before being diagnosed with chronic emphysema and his symptoms have now progressed to a point at which his day-to-day activities are drastically restricted and because of this he feels ashamed and guilty for not having quit smoking when he was young means that he is experiencing the depression stage of the Kübler-Ross model. The Kuebler-Ross model is a five stages of grief model that postulates a progression of emotional states experienced by both terminally ill patients after diagnosis .
