The answer is
about 180 m.
Using d = (1/2) g t2
= (1/2)(9.8)(36)
= about 180 m.
It takes about 6 sec for a stone dropped from rest at the top of a vertical mine shaft to hit the bottom of the shaft., the depth of the shaft is
about 180m.
