Concentration of cones (photoreceptors)…..optical nerves. The fovea is responsible for the higher visual acuity 20/20 vision. It is the region if the retina that is depressed and has little blood vessel supply to avoid dispersion of light. While it only comprises 1% of the retina, it makes up 50% of brain’s visual cortex.
