A piece of string is 325 centimeters long. You need a string to be 1 1/4 meters long. How many centimeters should you cut off?

Convert both measurements to cm.

325 cm stays as is, but 1 1/4 meter = 1.25 meter * [ 100 cm / 1 m ], or 125 cm. Cut off 125 cm.
