The only answer that even comes close is suspenseful. It would have to be because you would be in suspense wondering how ruthless and utter destruction occurred and what was destroyed.

Answer:

B. Suspenseful

Step-by-step explanation:

One resource in writing as an effective way to engage the reader is to built apprehension in the minds of the readers. Creating suspense allows the reader to experiment feelings of empathy, reader concern and provide the settings for impending danger and escalating tension. In this case the phrase "ruthless and utter destruction" creates suspense because of not knowing exactly how the destruction methods would be, but we know they are ruthless.
