i wasnt able to find much on this topic. but heres what ive got. Three important facets of the contemporary family measured by Census statistics involve marriage and divorce, declining fertility, and the rise of single-headed families. Between 1960 and 1998, the proportion of Americans age 15 and over who had never married increased from 19% to almost 25% among women, and from about 25% to about 31% among men. This change was greatest during the 1960s and the 1990s.

The types of families in this generation are nuclear family which is the normal family that has the parents and children. Next is the blended family, i guess, because there are many families who are broken but find another pair. Third is the homosexual family in which there are two homosexual couple and their children.
