we know that
in a right triangle
applying the Pythagoras theorem
c²=a²+b²----------> b²=c²-a²
where
c is the hypotenuse-------> c=8 yd
a and b are the legs of the triangle
a=6 yd
b=?
b²=c²-a²-----> b²=8²-6²-----> b²=64-36----> b²=28-----> b=√28---> 5.29 yd

the answer is
5.3 yd
