The computation of the probability is given below;

P(sentenced) is

= (367 + 68) ÷ 1043

= 0.4171.

Now

P(2 persons senteced to prison) is

= 0.4171 × 0.4171

= 0.1740

hence, the probability that they both were sentenced to prison is 0.1740
