The confederacy did not allow to have African-American soldiers. They were against the idea of having African-Americans (aka slaves) As soldiers. The union however we’re not against the idea of having African-Americans as soldiers they did open the door for African-Americans to enlist in the union army. Do union army treated the African-Americans the same as the other soldiers and the African Americans did go to the same treatment as the other soldiers.
