I believe the answer is: nationalism

One positive trait of nationalism is that it can strengthen the bond among people in the same social group, which minimize internal conflict among them.
One negative trait of nationalism is that it would perceive other culture/social group as inferior and might force them to bow down and adopt the culture that held by the nationalist.
