Answer:

B. (0.87, 0.48)

Explanation:

Tan(29) = 0.5543

Tan (29) = 0.48/0.87

Tan(29) = 0.5517

You have to understand what the question is really asking you to do. The tan(29) = 0.55 roughly. You need 2 numbers that form a fraction = 0.55. The question is a little bit unclear and you have to define where the angle starts.

Step One
Determine how the angle is determined.
If you are starting at (1,0) which is y = 0 as a line until you hit the circumference of the circle and move up 29 degrees (move counter clockwise) then that's how the 29 degrees is constructed. See upload. There is a green marker at the center which says 29 degrees.

Step Two
Find the tangent value of 29 degrees.
Tan(29) = 0.5543 Just press tan( followed by 29 followed by =

Step Three.
Determine which answer will give you 0.5543
Tan(29) = opposite over adjacent.
Tan(29) = o/a
Since the tan(29) < 1 then the y value of your choices must be less than the x value
opposite = y
adjacent = x
o < a
y < x

So you want (0.87, 0.48)

Does it work?
Tan(29) = 0.5543
Tan (29) = 0.48/0.87
Tan(29) = 0.5517 which is close enough.
