Your trinomial can be factored as
(t -4)(t -12)

A monomial (single term) doesn't need factoring, unless you intend to factor to prime factors.

A quadratic trinomial (ax^2 +bx +c) can often be factored by looking for divisors of the product ac that sum to the coefficient b. Here, those are -4 and -12.
