The correct answer is Jacques Marquette

He was known as the man who created the first settlement in Michigan as well as for mapping most of the Mississippi river territory together with another Canadian explorer Louis Jolliete. We know the man in the question is Marquette because Marquette was a Catholic priest and a jesuit while Jolliete was just an explorer.
