You paint one wall of your room and leave a circle for your favorite sports team logo. The diameter is 3 feet.

A)How much tape do you need to outline the circle?
B)What is the area of the wall you paint? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.

A) The amount of tape that you need is equal to the circumference. The formula is pi times the diameter.
3.14 x 3 = 9.42 feet

B) To find the area of the wall that gets painted, you take the area of the wall, W, minus the area of the logo.
The logo area is: pi x 1.5^2 = 7.065.
Therefore, the area of the wall will be: W - 7.065
