PEMDAS is what I was taught.

P-parenthesis
E-exponents
M-multiplication
D-division
A-addition
S-subtraction

multiplication and division is done by what ever operation comes first reading from left to right, same with addition and subtraction.

but with this equation, we are solving for x.

first we will multiply both sides of the equation by the reciprocal of -1/5, which is 5. by doing this, we will get rid of the fraction.

now we have 5x-125= 35

next, we +125 to both sides.

5x= 160

lastly, we divide both sides by 5.

x= 32
