A electrician charges $45 per hour and spends $20 a day on gasoline.Write an algebraic expression to represent his earnings for one day.

y= earnings of the electrician
x=hrs working
y=45x-20
Since he charges 45 dollars an hour you subtract 20, which is the amount he spends, and get the earnings of the day
