World War I ended with the treaty of Versailles. The treaty was harsh on Germany and did not allow for them to have an opportunity to be stabilized. Because of that, German citizens were desperate and wanted anything to change the way they were living. Hitler came along with his great plans and persuaded the German citizens that he was going to make sure that all men would get jobs and that Germany will rise in power again. Hitler’s rise in power and their action of taking back Rhineland started the Second World War.

Germany lost the war and was blamed. The Treaty of Versailles was costly for Germany and demanded that they not rearm and that they pay lots of war reparations. When the postwar German Weimar Republic suffered economic problems including hyperinflation, Hitler argued that Germany had been humiliated by the treaty and should fight back. He blamed the problems in the economy on an international Jewish conspiracy. At first he could not get a majority of Germans to follow him, despite their suffering. But eventually, when the worldwide depression hit in the thirties, his moment had come.
