In 1875, the Supreme Court voted in favor to ban race discrimination when it came to things such as education and job opportunities.

In 1883 there was a series of Civil Rights Cases that reversed the ruling of the Supreme Court in 1875. This went into effect in 1937, but wasn't actually legislated until 1964, which is why the new act is now known as the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

I hope I was able to help, best of luck! I took an AP exam on all of this today so if you have more questions or need some more help I'd be glad to help.

Well the case in 1883 was about both the 13th and 14th amendments about segregation.
