How did the nature of protests against the Vietnam war change as the war escalated?

The escalation of Vietnam war and the involvement of United States in it caused the rise of peace movements such as African-American civil rights, Chicano movements, women’s liberation and an organized labor sector. Other groups also participated in it including clergy, educators, journalists, lawyers, physicians and military veterans.

As the war in Vietnam escalated, the nature of protests begun to change too into social movements consisting mostly of students, mothers, the clergy and other groups. In the late '60s to early '70s these groups were opting for peaceful and non-violent means to voice their grievances against the perpetrators.
