The answer is: printing lies about a private citizen

Libel refers to false statement which could cause a certain level of damage to other people's reputation. Libel is a very common practice in media even until today. In order to do this, the media usually would present in a certain news in a specific way that change the narrative/how people's opinion toward the news. By doing this, they can smear a person's reputation without actually telling a lie.
