If a person is released from a custody in a facility (such as prison) the process of returning to and readjusting to society is called “re-entry.” Depending on how long the person has been disconnected from society, the more difficult re-entry can be. Prisoners who are released back into society after many years (10+) often have great difficulty coming back into society because of how much around them has changed while they were in prison.
