2x - 5 = 4 \\ 2x = 4 + 5 \\ 2x = 9 \\ x = (9)/(2) \\ x = 4 (1)/(2)

Or in decimal form, 4.5

Hope this helps. - M

Hey there, below you will find the work and answer to your question.

2x-5=4

First lets get the 2x by itself so we have to add 5 on both sides.
2x-5=4
+5 +5
2x=9
Now we need to get the X by itself so divide each side by 2

(2x)/(2) = (9)/(2)
Now we are left with the following
X=
(9)/(2)
We must simplfy the fraction
2 will go into 9 four times with 1 left over. So the mixed fraction answer would be:
x=
4 (1)/(2)
As a decimal you would just divide 9 and 2
x=4.5

Hope this helped!
