For this case we have the following function:
y = | x |
Vertical expansions and compressions:
To graph y = a * f (x)
If 0 <a <1, the graph of y = f (x) is compressed vertically by a factor a. (Shrinks)
We have then that applying the transformation results:
y = 1/4 | x |
Answer:
it is compressed vertically by a factor 1/4
