Slurred speech and confusion could be signs of a stroke.

Use the F.A.S.T. test to recognize and respond to stroke symptoms:

F = FACE Ask your friend to smile. Does one side of his/her face droop?

A = ARMS Ask him/her to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

S = SPEECH Ask him/her to repeat a simple sentence. Does his/her speech sound slurred or strange?

T = TIME If you notice any of these, don’t delay. Make a note of what time it occcured, it WILL BE IMPORTANT.

Then call 9-1-1 or get him/her the nearest hospital or stroke center.
