The shadow of a vertical tower is 52.5 meters long when the angle of elevation of the sun is x degrees. The height of the tower is 41 meters. Find the angle of elevation rounded to the nearest degree.

Angle of Elevation = 38°

Explanation:

Angle of Elevation formula is given as

tan x = Opposite /Adjacent

Where

x = Angle of Elevation

Opposite = Height of the tower = 41 meters

Adjacent = Shadow of the vertical tower = 52.5 meters

Hence:

tan x = 41 m/52.5m

x = arc tan (41 m/52.5m)

x = 37.988141726°

Approximately to the nearest degree x = 38°
