The text structure of "Wilson's War Message to Congress" helps to support his message since Wilson presents both his opinions and facts to make a clear argument for war against Germany.

During a special, joint session of the two houses of Congress, President Wilson call on Congress to declare war on Germany. Four days following that claim, on April 6, 1917, the United States declared war on Germany. To put it simply, the resulting congressional vote brought the United States into World War I.
