It also may make you a more confident public speaker because you are more confident around languages. Socially, it's always a good conversation starter, and can impress many people when you translate stuff for them. You have the option to go to so many more universities and such that are only offered in french, like on the east coast. Since Canada is bilingual, knowing french will let you go anywhere in Canada without language barriers, as well as being able to help tourists in your area coming from a french region. And the last benefit of speaking french is that at my school we get 2 diplomas when we graduate, one French and one English.
