The weight of an object on earth varies directly as the weight of the same object on the moon. A 300- pound object on earth would weight 48 pounds on the moon. How much would a 65-pound object weight on the moon?

Answer: 10.4 pounds

Explanation:

In this case, we have to calculate the constant of proportionality. This can easily be gotten as:

300/48 = 6.25

Therefore, the weight of a 65-pound object weight on the moon will be:

= 65/6.25

= 10.4 pounds
