Question referring to book; Mountains beyond Mountains Many people in Cange believe that Paul Farmer "works with both hands," meaning that he works both with science and with the magic necessary to remove Voodoo curses (page 27). How did he learn about the role of Voodoo in the lives of the residents of Cange? How does Farmer interpret the continuing presence of Voodoo in modern Haitian life?

Answer and Explanation:

1. he learned about the role of voodoo in population life, when he observed that even with medical treatments that showed beneficial results, Haitians were reluctant to consult a voodoo master. With that, he saw how voodoo was something very culturally rooted, justifying its presence in the lives of Haitians.

2. He interprets this as an intrinsic part of the local culture, going so far as to disrespect or not value voodoo, it caused a cultural shock in the community and prevented the Haiinians' trust in foreign doctors who were trying to help.
