A company has 200 employees. The company’s owner randomly chose 30 employees for an in-depth survey. Of those surveyed, 12 employees said they work overtime on a regular basis.

What is the best estimate of the percent of the company’s employees who work overtime on a regular basis?

the owner asked 30 people and 12 worked overtime.

divide the number who work over time by the number of people asked to find the percentage of the sample:

12 / 30 = 0.4 = 40%

so about 40% of all the people work overtime
