break the shape into 2 different ones, there is a triangle on top and a half circle on the bottom:

the radius of the circle is 3 yards, so the diameter would be 6 yards diameter = 2 x radius)

the diameter of the circle is also the base of the triangle.
the height f the triangle is 5 yards formula for area of a triangle is 1/2 x b x h

so you have 1/2 x 6 x 5 = 15 square yards

the area for a circle is PI x r^2
so you have 3.14 x 3^2 = 28.26 for the full circle so divide this by 2 for the half circle:
area of half circle = 28.26 / 2 = 14.13 square yards
now add the area of the triangle and half circle together:

14.13 + 15 = 29.13 square yards
