210 + 50x = y

Explanation: 210 is the base rate, which means it’s never going to change regardless of the sales; so it stands alone. The 50 however, is based on how many sales they have.

So if the had to 2 sales it would be

210 (base pay) + 50 (2 sales) = 310 total income

Because
210 he will get no matter what and for every sale it will be 50$ more and since we don’t know how many he will make it is 50x
