Mitch does not know the correct answer to two multiple choice questions. The choices are A,B,C, and D. If Mitch just guesses, what is the probability that Mitch will guess both answers correctly?

Both chances to success are 1/4. If you want the first AND the second to be successful, you have to multiply the chances, so the answer is

1/4 * 1/4 = 1/16
