Was the U.S. planning to go to war in Vietnam before august 1964? explain why yes or no in a paragraph... ASAP

Yes--Presidents Eisenhower and J.F Kennedy both contributed money and weapons to the Vietnamese conflict. They also took a hard stance against communism, supporting the containment theory.

No--the US was not very supportive of the Korean War and would not support another conflict. Eisenhower had stated it was a French conflict and the US should not interfere with troops but could support an ally economically.
