Leaves need to be elevated so they are exposed to sunlight for photosynthesis. Which part of the stem grows to make this possible?

The apical meristem part of the stem, which is located at the tip of the plant enables the growth of these leaves and is considered a primary growth. With this stem tip, meristemic cells are continuously divided and eventually increases the length.

Let me know if you need anything else. :)
