I'm a little confused on how to solve this, can anybody help?

Solve the following system of equations and show all work.

y = x^2 + 3
y = x + 5

Answer 1

x^2 - x - 2 = 0
(x - 2)(x + 1) = 0
x = 2 or x = -1

Answer 2

x^2 + 3 = x + 5
x^2 - x - 2 = 0
(x - 2)(x + 1) = 0
x = 2 or x = -1
