If the endpoints of AB have the coordinates A(9,8) and B(-1,-2), what us the midpoint of AB?

For this we must use the Midpoint Formula.

m= ((y_2-y_1)/(2), (x_2-x_1)/(2))

We'll find the y coordinate first.

y= (y_2-y_1)/(2) \\ y= (8-(-2))/(2) \\ y= (10)/(2)
y=5

Now we'll do the same for x.

x= (x_2-x_1)/(2) \\ x= (9-(-1))/(2) \\ x= (10)/(2)
x=5

Your final answer is m=(5, 5)

midpoint of AB:
x = (9 - 1)/ 2 = 4
y = (8 - 2)/2 = 3

midpoint of AB = (4 , 3)
