Explanation: when detergents are washed into water bodies,excessive phosphate causes eutrophication .eutrophication is the excessive growth of algae due to plenty nutrients in the water body.when these algae decay,they use up oxygen and causes inadequate oxygen for fishes and other marine organisms.

It could lead to death of these fishes and in the process of decay,they use up more oxygen causing more oxygen shortage in the water
