DJ has a 7/8 piece of wood. He uses this wood to make 2 shelves. How much wood is used for each shelf?

Answer: 7/16 of a piece of wood

To get this answer, multiply 1/2 by 7/8. This is the same as dividing 7/8 over 2

(1/2)*(7/8) = (1*7)/(2*8) = 7/16
