Why was Thomas Morgan's work with fruit flies important

Because Thomas conducted experimental research on the fruit flys. This research later established the chromosome theory of heredity. Meaning that genes are linked into a series of chromosomes. Explaining that the series creates identifiable traits that are passed down.
